The Katheen Hoye Trio offers a unique, atmospheric style of Celtic/folk/blues fusion (Chamber Folk) and original songwriting influenced by Kathleen's time living in Belfast Ireland, Chicago, Tennessee & Kentucky, and the eclectic talents of her band mates.
Kathleen Hoye has 25 years of songwriting and performing experience, is a classically trained vocalist, and has opened for Gillian Welch, Iris Dement, Leon Russell, Patty Loveless, The Indigo Girls & Paula Cole. Guitarist Mark Hamilton has performed at the Kennedy Center and has worked with artists across multiple genres, from indie rock/folk (Will Oldham) to gospel, gypsy jazz and hip hop (Static Major). Angela Scharfenberger is a public ethnomusicologist (PhD, IU) whose experiences studying African music and culture inform both a percussive standup bass style and inspire a community building approach to teaching with the Louisville Folk School.
Different Kind, Kathleen's latest release with the trio, is currently receiving regular radio play on WMOT Nashville, WFPK Louisville and other AAA stations across the country, and is currently ranked #110 on the CDX AAA chart in its first week of national airplay.
